Jahrgangsbrennerei Martin Doll - Obstvielfalt an der Weinstraße

Obstbaumeister, Winzer und Brenner Martin Doll lebt und arbeitet in einem besonders schönen Teil Deutschland: an der Badischen Weinstraße. Malerische Fachwerkhäuser und blumengeschmückte Brücken sind typisch für den Weinort Durbach, der sich in der reizenden Landschaft zwischen Rheinebene und Schwarzwald über 42 Seitentäler erstreckt. Hier in der wärmsten Region Deutschlands sind die Klimabedingungen ausgezeichnet, daher ist neben Wein der Obstanbau zweites Standbein der Landwirte. Rund 230 Kleinbrennereien liefern eine Vielfalt an Edelbränden, vor allem das berühmte Schwarzwälder Kirschwasser.

Der Familienbetrieb befindet sich im Durbacher Ortsteil Gebirg, der Winzerhof mit Brennerei ist umgeben von Weinbergen und mit Kastanien bewaldeten Höhenkämmen. Seit mehr als zehn Jahren wird gebrannt - die Tradition des Brennens am Hof geht allerdings schon zurück bis ins Jahr 1802. Die Familie hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, das Hofgut unabhängig von großen Handelsorganisationen weiterzuentwickeln. Veredelt werden nur Früchte aus eigenen Weinbergen und Streuobstwiesen.

Das Sortiment umfasst rund 25 Produkte, Schwerpunkt sind Obstbrände, von Apfel über Mirabelle, Schlehe und Vogelbeere bis Zwetschge, dazu kommen Hefe und Trester. Lokalfavorit ist das Schwarzwälder Kirschwasser, die Spezialität heißt Zibärtli, eine wilde Mirabelle, die seit mehr als 500 Jahren hier heimisch ist. Liköre, ein Himbeergeist sowie ein feinherber Kräuterschnaps bereichern die Palette.

Die Teilnahme am World-Spirits Award brachte den 17. Gesamtrang als First-Class Distillery, dazu Gold für den Tresterbrand von der Scheurebe und Silber für die Williamsbirne, den Muskateller-Weinhefebrand, das Zibärtli und die Zwetschge aus dem Holzfass.

Martin Doll Vintage Distillery - Great Fruit Variety on the Wine Route

Master fruit grower, winegrower and distiller Martin Doll lives and works in a particularly beautiful part of Germany - at the Baden Wine Route. Picturesque timbered houses and bridges festooned with flowers are typical of Durbach, the winegrowing village in the charming landscape between the Rhine valley and the Black Forest. Durbach sprawls over 42 side valleys. Here in the warmest area of Germany, climatic conditions are excellent and farmers grow wine and fruit. Approximately 230 small distilleries provide a broad spectrum of fine spirits, above all, the famous Black Forest Kirsch.
The Doll family's winery and distillery are located in Gebirg, surrounded by vineyards and ridges densely covered with chestnuts. The family has been distilling for more than ten years, but the distilling tradition on the estate dates back to 1802. The family's goal is to develop the estate independent of large trade conglomerates. They process only fruit from their own vineyards and orchard meadows.
The product line comprises approximately 25 products, with the focus on fruit spirits, ranging from apple, Mirabelle plum, sloe to rowan berry and plum, in addition to which the Dolls offer yeast and marc. The local favourite is the Black Forest Kirsch, and the speciality is called "Zibärtli" in the local vernacular. Zibarte (prunus domestica ssp. prisca) is a wild plum native to the region for more than 300 years. Liqueurs, a raspberry spirit, as well as mildly bitter herbal schnapps, complement the product range.
Their participation in the World-Spirits Award resulted in 17th overall place as First Class Distillery, plus gold for the Scheurebe marc and silver for Williams pear, Muscatel marc, Zibärtli and plum spirit matured in the wooden barrel.
